Sam and Charlotte welcome Gerald back to the show to talk about Dark Fantasy anime. This genre is usually pretty heavily entrenched in Isekai but we manage to sidestep those to talk about two classics of the genre and a.... less classic. Sam actually gives one of his favorite ever shows to Gerald to break down (unheard of), while he speaks about another dark fantasy anime favorite. Meanwhile Charlotte lays into a show she has hated since 2014.

Several hundred years ago, humans were nearly exterminated by titans. In the near future, a Virtual Reality Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (VRMMORPG) called Sword Art Online has been released where players control their avatars with their bodies using a piece of technology called Nerve Gear. One day, players discover they cannot log out, as the game creator is holding them captive unless they reach the 100th floor of the game's tower and defeat the final boss.
